One of the primary roles required by Daysha Consulting is the job of project manager. There are a number of project management jobs that arise in the field of IT consultancy. Requiring a broad range of skill and abilities and holding overall responsibility for the outcome of projects, it is one of the most important roles for Daysha to fill.

Amongst the skills required for the role, communication is particularly relevant to the job. The project manager will coordinate multiple teams all from diverse backgrounds. This involves reconciling differences in understanding and perspective between the groups. Although the goals of each group may be the same, the perspectives from which they see the course of the project mean their ideas for how the project should process may not always neatly align with each other. Determining ways to explain to each group the understanding of the others and work with each to develop a common solution is no easy task but is a capability required for project management jobs.

Issues of coordination are not something that only arise when communications break down, teams fall out of alignment, or the project falls behind schedule. The ability to envision the entire process is critical. Preparing the point and location of every stage in the project means errors and delays are less likely to happen in the first place. By ensuring that each team and every team member understands what part they play and when from the very outset of the project means that the project will flow smoothly.

Of course, it is never possible to plan for every eventuality nor is it always desirable to try to plan for as many outcomes as possible. An approach of flexibility from the start makes the project manager’s job more involving and more comprehensive. Rather than simply setting out a rigid plan from the beginning and ensuring the teams involved keep to a prescribed schedule the project manager will meet with the teams on a regular basis to re-evaluate and reiterate the goals, dimensions and route of the project. This means being able to prepare for any eventuality without having to prepare for every eventuality.
